Zakąski Przekąski

I thought I’d start this blog with this great place. It’s kind of a snack bar with traditional Polish snacks, starters or przekąski. The other part of the name of this place zakąski – usually means something that you would have just after your shot of vodka. I’m just guessing but I suspect that this comes from the communist days when you couldn’t drink something without ordering some food as well.

The place has a real old-school Warsaw vibe to it. All the dishes are 8 PLN or 2 Euro and the drinks are priced at 4 PLN or 1 Euro and that includes shots of vodka as well. The great thing is that its open round the clock all week long. And this means that you can meet some real characters there at various times of the day and night.

The wall menu

Basically there are 8 dishes in all if I remember correctly. All are Polish classics like Steak Tartare, Pate, Herrings in Oil and the such. Just what the doctor ordered after a night on the town or any other time for that matter. Hereąs a picture of half mz portion of steak tartare.
